📖 The Case of the Missing Diary Entries

Okay. So. Baba forgot to write my diary. For MANY days. MANY. I don’t even know how many because I am three and time is not my specialty, but I know it was A LOT.

Sudo diary section 1

Do you know what it’s like to have your entire epic life story just… undocumented? I have been out here LIVING, people. Making history. And Baba just forgot. Forgot! Like I forget where I put my toy blocks, except my forgetting is cute because I am three. Baba has no excuse.

Sudo diary section 2

Anyway. I, Sudo, will now heroically summarize the chaos of the past few weeks. You’re welcome.

Sudo diary section 3

🏡 Grandma Got Sick & The Great Countryside Retreat

So the big news: Bà ngoại (that’s Grandma on Mama’s side) got sick. Which is NOT okay. I did not approve this.

The whole family packed up and went back to the countryside for a whole WEEK. Mama went to take care of Bà ngoại every single day. Mama is very brave and very tired and I respect her deeply (but I still need my snacks on time, that is non-negotiable).

The good news: Bà ngoại is doing SO much better now! The family has returned to Saigon. All is well. Crisis managed. Mostly by Mama, but I was there for moral support.

While we were in the countryside, I stayed at Bà nội’s house (that’s Grandma on Baba’s side). And let me tell you something about Bà nội:

  • She will give me whatever food I want. WHATEVER. I want.
  • The answer is always yes.
  • She is the greatest human being on this planet and I will not hear otherwise.

I played a LOT. It was very fun. But I missed school. Which is wild, because some days I act like school is a prison. Turns out? I actually love it. Don’t tell anyone.

According to CDC developmental milestone research, kids my age thrive on routine and social interaction with peers. So my sadness about missing school is actually very scientifically valid. I am not being dramatic. I am being developmentally accurate.

⛰️ The Mountain, The Myth, The Legend (That’s Me)

OKAY. Before the whole countryside trip, we had PLANS. Big plans. Beach plans. I was going to go to the beach for summer!

But then it was the 5th day of the 5th lunar month (which apparently is a very important holiday called Tết Đoan Ngọ, look it up), so the beach plan got cancelled. Fine. FINE. I am not bitter.

Instead, we went to the MOUNTAINS. With Baba Linh and Baba Huy. And I, Sudo, age three, tiny human with very short legs, decided to WALK.

Not a little walk. Not a cute little toddler waddle around the block.

THIRTEEN KILOMETERS.

Baba measured it. 13km. On my little feet. With my little legs. Going up and down a mountain like some kind of pint-sized explorer. I didn’t even complain that much. (I complained a normal amount. That’s fine.)

  • 13km walked ✅
  • Zero toddlers were harmed in the making of this adventure ✅
  • Baba’s jaw: on the floor ✅
  • My status as a legend: confirmed ✅

Toddlers walking long distances is actually a real thing — research shows that young children between ages 2-4 are remarkably capable of sustained physical activity when they’re engaged and motivated. According to CDC milestone data, kids my age are supposed to be running, jumping, and climbing with increasing coordination. Running up a mountain? That’s just me exceeding expectations as usual.

OMG. 13km. That’s a FEAT. HAHAHA (as Baba would say: Hâhhha). I carried that mountain. The mountain did NOT carry me.
