The Day I Got Famous at School (And Also, What Even Is a Pumpkin Holiday?)

Teacher Said I Was Amazing (Obviously)
Today at school, my teacher gave me a compliment. Like, out loud. In front of everyone.
I acted surprised. But between you and me? I was NOT surprised. I have been absolutely killing it lately.
According to the very serious science of toddler development, kids my age are hitting major milestones — talking more, playing better, being generally incredible. Raising Children says toddlers around my age are getting really good at listening, learning, and building everyday skills. So basically, the experts already knew I was special. Teacher is just catching up.
I took a little bow in my head. Very graceful. Very me.
Tomorrow Is… Hallo-Queen? Hallo-WHAT?
So apparently tomorrow is something called Halloween. Or as I first heard it: Hallo-Queen.
Honestly? Hallo-Queen sounds better. That version is clearly about me.
I’m not 100% sure what Halloween is. From what I can tell, the rules are:
- Wear a costume (yes, great, I support this)
- Eat candy (OBVIOUSLY I support this)
- Everything is orange and spooky (hmm… okay)
- Adults act weird (when do they not?)
I’ll figure it out as I go. That’s my strategy for most things in life.
The Bookstore Was Full of Pumpkins and I Have Questions
Ba (Dad) took me to the bookstore today. Which was already a great idea because I love books. I am very smart and cultured like that.
BUT. The entire bookstore had been taken over by Halloween costumes. Everywhere I looked: pumpkins. Orange pumpkins. Big pumpkins. Little pumpkins. Pumpkin hats. Pumpkin dresses. A pumpkin the size of my entire body.
I took SO many photos. I posed next to the costumes. I posed with the pumpkins. I probably posed with a broom at some point. I don’t fully remember. The camera kept going and I kept delivering.
Experts say toddlers my age are developing a strong sense of curiosity and love exploring new environments. That is EXACTLY what I was doing. I was exploring. Scientifically. With many poses.
But I do have one major question: Why is it ALL pumpkins? Where are the other vegetables? Do carrots not get a holiday? Very suspicious. I will be investigating.
RIP My ‘Hahaha’ Machine
Okay. So. There used to be this thing. A decoration. It made a “hahaha” scary laughing sound whenever someone walked by.
I may or may not have been deeply, completely, 100% terrified of it.
I’m not saying I screamed. I’m just saying… the adults noticed my reaction. And apparently they felt SO bad that they unplugged it.
It is now silent. Gone. Defeated.
Did I win? Yes. Do I feel guilty? Absolutely not. The “hahaha” machine started it.
According to The Bump, toddlers at this stage have very big emotions and can feel fear intensely — it’s a totally normal part of development. So basically, I wasn’t scared. I was just having a developmentally appropriate emotional experience. Very different.
Bedtime Report: 9:45 PM. I Am Basically a CEO Now.
Tonight I went to bed at 9:45 PM.
I know. I KNOW. That’s early for me. This is huge. This is historic.
My plan is to do the same thing tomorrow. And the day after. I am turning over a new leaf. I am a new Sudo. A responsible, well-rested, early-sleeping Sudo.
(We’ll see how long this lasts.)
Today was a good day. I got praised at school, I took glamorous photos in a bookstore, I defeated the laughing machine, and I went to bed before 10 PM.
I am basically thriving.

Original: Hôm nay quá vui, sudo được cô giáo khen trên trường. Ngày mai là halloqueen, thật ra thì sudo cũng không biết nó là gì nữa. hmm. Hôm nay cha đã đưa sudo đi vào nhà sách, sudo đã chụp hình rất nhiều với những bộ đồ hoá trang đầy màu sắc, mà sao toàn bí đỏ vậy ta? hmm. Hôm nay con “hahaha” nó không hoạt động nữa, chắc là do hôm trước cô chú thấy sudo sợ quá nên đã rút điện 😄 Tối nay sudo ngủ sớm, 9h45. Rất tiến bộ, mai sudo sẽ ngủ sớm tiếp nhé.
