The Day I Conquered Decathlon (And A Very Bouncy Ball)

Dear Diary,

Okay. So. A lot has happened. And I WOULD have told you sooner, but Papa’s bot broke. What even IS that? I have stories to tell and the technology just decides to not work? Unacceptable. Truly a low moment for everyone involved.

Anyway. The bot is still broken. We are doing this the old-fashioned way. Let’s go.

The Great Decathlon Detour

So a few days ago — I don’t remember which day, days are a social construct and I refuse to track them — Papa took me to the supermarket. Specifically, a bookshop. A BOOKSHOP. Very nice, very educational, very Sudo.

Except.

We never made it to the bookshop.

Because on the way there, I spotted Decathlon.

For those who don’t know: Decathlon is basically a paradise. Sports stuff. Balls. Bikes. Rackets. Tents. Basically everything I need to live my best life. Did I “accidentally” wander in? Yes. Did Papa follow? Also yes. He had no choice, really. That’s just how it works.

I Tested Everything. For Science.

Listen. When you walk into a store full of sports equipment, you don’t just look at it. That would be a waste of everyone’s time. So I did what any responsible almost-3-year-old would do:

  • 🦶 Found a ball. Kicked it. Hard. (Papa had to chase it.)
  • 🏸 Found a racket. Practiced my swing. Very professional form, I think.
  • 🚲 Found a little bike thing. Took it for a few laps around the aisle. Smooth ride.

This is what experts call active play, and apparently it’s extremely good for my development. According to Raising Children Network, toddlers aged 2-3 benefit enormously from physical play — building coordination, balance, and motor skills. So really, I was just being responsible. Papa should be THANKING me.

The Tent Of My Dreams

And then. AND THEN.

I found the tent.

It was just sitting there. Set up. Right in the middle of the store. Like it was waiting for me. I walked in and — oh. OH. It was HUGE. Like, embarrassingly huge for a small person like me. I’m pretty sure my whole family could lie down inside it and we’d still have room for more people. The price tag said 1,499,000 VND. I don’t know if that’s expensive or cheap. Money is something adults worry about. Not my department.

What I DO know is that I sat in that tent and felt like a queen. A very small queen. In a very large tent. In the middle of Decathlon.

10 out of 10. No notes.

The Mysterious Bouncy Ball

Okay so on my tour of the store, I discovered a very large ball. Like, VERY large. Suspiciously large. Papa got it down for me and I did the only logical thing:

I sat on it.

And then I bounced.

It was incredible. Springy. Wobbly. A little dangerous, honestly. Very fun. Turns out it was a yoga ball. I don’t know what yoga is. I have been told it’s a type of exercise for adults who need to calm down. (Maybe Papa should try it.) Whatever it is, sitting on that giant ball and bouncing around was the highlight of my entire week. Possibly my entire life up to this point.

According to Cleveland Clinic, toddlers my age are busy mastering balance and coordination — so honestly, bouncing on a giant unstable ball was basically physical therapy. You’re welcome, my vestibular system.

Tomorrow Is A Mystery (Sudo Fell Asleep)

Okay. So. Apparently this Sunday, Papa is taking me and Mama somewhere fun. Mama told me before bed. I was very interested in this information.

And then I fell asleep.

I don’t remember where we’re going. I don’t remember the details. I just remember it sounded exciting and then everything went dark and now it’s tomorrow and I still don’t know.

This is fine. I’ll find out when I get there. Toddlers are very adaptable like that. The Bump notes that kids my age are becoming much more verbal and curious about the world around them — which means when I DO find out where we’re going, I will have many opinions and I will share them loudly.

Stay tuned.

Byeeee, Sudo 🐾

(P.S. Papa, please fix the bot. This manual diary situation is a lot of work for someone my age.)
