📓 Sudo’s Diary — 2026/03/19

The Week of CHAOS: Falls, Food Sprays & Mama’s Swollen Ankle

Okay. I need to sit down and talk about this week. Actually, I AM sitting down. On the floor. Because that is where I belong apparently, since the floor keeps finding my head.

Let me start from the beginning. A few days ago, I walked face-first into a door. THE DOOR WAS RIGHT THERE. Did I see it? Yes. Did I stop? …Debatable. The good news: Sudo is FINE. Tough as a little dumpling. The door, however, should be ashamed of itself.

🚌 The Bus Stop Disaster of 2026 (This Is Not A Drill)

On Saturday, Baba, Mama, and I went on a trip to the countryside to pick up gifts. Lovely. Wholesome. What could go wrong?

EVERYTHING. Everything could go wrong.

We stopped at a rest stop to eat lunch. I had consumed approximately 2.5 spoonfuls of rice — two and a half — when the bus driver’s assistant started yelling at everyone to GET BACK ON THE BUS. RIGHT NOW. HURRY UP.

Excuse me, sir. I am eating. I am a growing child. Rice does not go in the mouth at YOUR speed. Rice goes in the mouth at SUDO speed.

But Baba, being a responsible adult with zero chill, started shoveling food into my mouth at rocket speed. I respect the commitment. I do not respect the chaos.

Then Mama picked me up and RAN toward the bus and then — BOOM.

Mama fell. I fell with her. We both hit the ground. And what did I do, as a highly evolved almost-three-year-old with rapidly developing physical coordination?

I spat out two pieces of carrot and white radish. Directly. Onto the ground. Like a tiny food volcano.

  • 🥕 Carrot: launched
  • 🥬 White radish: also launched
  • 😭 Sudo’s tears: 30 seconds maximum, then fully recovered
  • 😰 Mama’s ankle: swollen like a little piggy trotter 🐽 (Baba’s words, not mine)

I cried for 30 seconds. Then I was fine. I am built different.

Mama, on the other hand, got a swollen knee AND a twisted ankle. Baba called it a “mild sprain” but by night time that ankle looked like it belonged to someone else entirely. Poor Mama. She carried me and paid the price. I would feel bad but I was also unconscious from the fall so I think we’re even.

According to The Bump, toddlers my age are running, climbing, and generally being physical little disasters. What they forgot to mention is that sometimes we take our mamas DOWN with us. Sorry Mama. Sort of.

👴👴 The Grandpa Summit: Two Grandpas, One Historic Meeting

After several transfers and what felt like seventeen vehicles, we finally arrived at Paternal Grandpa’s house. (Ông Nội, for those keeping track of my family roster.)

The next morning, Baba loaded us all up — including Ông Nội — and drove to Maternal Grandpa’s house. (Ông Ngoại. Yes, I have two grandpas. I am very rich in grandpas.)

Ông Nội and Ông Ngoại talked and talked and talked. It was the most entertaining thing I had ever witnessed. Two grandpas with decades of wisdom and opinions? Magnificent. I watched like I was at a live show.

Also that day, someone came to give medicine to Bà Năm and Ông Ngoại. I don’t know what kind of medicine it was. I was not given any information. Classic adult secrecy. But I cheered Ông Ngoại on like the superstar supporter I am:

“Ông Ngoại can do it! Ông Ngoại, fighting! 💪”

He did great. Obviously. He had ME cheering for him. Toddlers at my stage are developing strong social bonds and showing empathy — which is exactly what I was doing. Very advanced. Very me.

I also caught Mama whispering something to Grandma about a car. A car. Which car? Whose car? Why is everyone being so mysterious about cars?

Speaking of mysterious things…

🔑 The Red Key Cover: A Development

Baba recently bought me a red key cover. Just for me. It is shiny. It is red. It is MINE.

I am connecting dots here. Red key cover. Mysterious car conversation. Mama looking shifty. Ông Ngoại looking proud.

I don’t know what’s happening but I have a feeling it’s big. I am watching everything. I am saying nothing. I am three years old and I am VERY observant. Just like toddlers at this age who are sharp, curious, and absorbing every single thing around them.

Watch this space. Sudo is investigating.

😈 The Night Crying Era: RETURNS

We got back to Saigon and immediately I entered what I call my Nighttime Stress Test Protocol.

It’s simple. I cry at night. For no obvious reason. Just to keep Baba and Mama sharp. Night wakings at this age are totally normal — toddlers process a LOT during the day and sometimes the brain just needs to… express itself. At 2am. Loudly.

I’m not sorry. Growth is uncomfortable for everyone.

Baba and Mama, I know you love me. I know you are tired. I know the week has been long and Mama’s ankle is puffy and everyone just wants to sleep.

But tonight… tonight I shall be wearing my mo cau mask before bed. 🦦 Just for protection. Just in case. Don’t ask questions.

  • Head bumped into door: ✅ survived
  • Fell at bus stop, ejected two vegetables: ✅ survived
  • Cheered Ông Ngoại like a champion: ✅ nailed it
  • Mysterious red key situation: 🔍 under investigation
  • Night crying to test parental patience: ✅ ongoing

Sudo, out. 🦦
