Sudo’s Diary — The Week of Chaos, Falls, and a Mystery Car Key

March 22, 2026 | By Sudo, Age Almost-2, Professional Disaster Magnet

Okay. Let me sit down and collect myself. This past week has been A LOT. Even for me — and I live a very dramatic life by default.

Chapter 1: The Head Bump Incident (A Prequel)

A few days ago, I had a little disagreement with a door. The door won. My head lost.

I hit my head. Right on the door frame. BONK.

But here is the twist — I was FINE. Completely fine. Not even a scratch. I am basically indestructible. Scientists should study me.

Mama looked more scared than I did. Baba checked my head seventeen times. I just blinked at them like, “Are we done here? I have toys to throw.”

According to Pampers, toddlers my age are getting more mobile and adventurous — which basically means I am LEGALLY required to bump into things. It is developmental. You cannot stop me.

Chapter 2: The Great Road Trip Disaster of This Saturday

This Saturday, Baba, Mama, and I went to the countryside to pick up presents. A wholesome family trip. What could go wrong?

Everything. Everything could go wrong.

We stopped at a rest stop for lunch. I had just eaten maybe 2… maybe 3 spoonfuls of rice. TWO OR THREE. That is barely a snack. That is a suggestion of food.

Then the bus assistant man started yelling at everyone to GET ON THE BUS RIGHT NOW. Baba panicked and started speed-feeding me like I was a little race car getting a pit stop refuel. Scoop. Chew. Swallow. GO GO GO.

Then Mama picked me up and ran toward the bus and then —

BUUM.

Mama fell. I fell with her. We both went splat on the ground like two dumplings dropped from a great height.

And I — I spat out two pieces of carrot and white radish that I had been chewing. They just flew out. Into the world. Goodbye, carrots.

I cried for exactly 30 seconds. Then I was done. Pain? Gone. Forgotten. I have the emotional recovery speed of a golden retriever.

Mama was NOT as lucky. Her knee swelled up. Her ankle twisted. Baba said it was just a mild sprain — but by that night, her ankle was swollen like a pig foot. Sorry Mama. I love you. You are very brave.

Chapter 3: We Made It to Grandpa’s House!

After multiple bus transfers and general chaos, we finally arrived at Noi’s house. Mission complete. Sudo has landed.

The next morning, Baba drove us to Ngoai’s house and brought Noi along too. Having both grandpas in the same room is absolutely peak entertainment. They talked and talked and TALKED. It was like watching two very wise, very funny TV channels at the same time.

Chapter 4: Sudo’s Cheerleading Era Begins

That day, a doctor-type person came to the house to give medicine to Ba Nam and Ong Ngoai. I do not know exactly what kind of medicine — it looked serious. It looked like it required moral support.

So I provided it.

I stood there and cheered for Ong Ngoai with my whole chest:

  • “Ong ngoai lam duoc! Ong ngoai co len!”
  • (Translation: “Grandpa can do it! Come on, Grandpa!”)

I am basically the world’s smallest, most enthusiastic hype person. You’re welcome, Grandpa.

By the way — Huckleberry says toddlers around my age are learning to use words to express emotions and support others. So technically, my cheerleading is a DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONE. Put that in my report card.

Chapter 5: A Mystery Red Car Key Appears

Baba recently bought me a new red key cover. It is very cute. It is very red. I carry it around with great authority.

THEN — I heard Mama whispering something to Ba Ngoai about going back to get a car.

A car? WHICH car? WHOSE car?

I put the pieces together. Red key cover. Mysterious car conversation. Hushed adult voices.

I do not have all the information yet. But I am watching. I am always watching. What to Expect says kids my age are starting to understand a LOT more language than adults realize — so maybe Mama should be more careful about what she whispers.

Chapter 6: Night Mode ACTIVATED

Back in Saigon now. And listen. I have been crying at night again.

Is it because I am scared? No.

Is it because I am in pain? No.

Is it because I am approaching the legendary Terrible Twos and I feel a deep calling to test Baba and Mama’s patience, peace, and general will to survive?

…Maybe.

I am 22 months old. According to Pampers, toddlers my age go through big emotional changes. Feelings are BIG. Sleep disruptions are REAL. Tantrums are VALID.

Baba and Mama, this is not personal. This is science.

Tonight, I have decided I will sleep with a mo cau leaf mask on my face for protection. It is a spiritual defense system. Do not question it.
